Police are investigating allegations of antisemitic abuse and assault in broad daylight near St John’s Wood synagogue.

Officers confirmed they received reports a man was racially abused and assaulted at around noon on May 4.

According to Campaign Against Antisemitism, the victim was kicked in the back by an assailant on Grove End Road opposite the synagogue.

Another man told police he was racially abused by the same suspect on Hall Road five minutes later, shortly after leaving St John’s Wood Synagogue.

The victim was a Jewish father walking home after shul with his two sons when they were racially abused, Campaign Against Antisemitism reported.

He reportedly crossed the road and ordered his children to run home before he was able to catch up with them when the assailant became distracted.

A Community Security Trust spokesperson said: “CST is very much aware of this incident and is working closely with the management and security of St John’s Wood synagogue and also local Police.”

Police say the suspect is described as black, in his 20s, about 6 foot two inches, of slim build, and was wearing a black LA Raiders cap during the incident.

No arrests have been made, as police enquiries continue.
