Israel’s former ambassador to Ghana has been named as the country’s new deputy envoy in London.
Sharon Bar-li, who has 22 years experience as a diplomat, is the outgoing director of the Mideast, Africa & Latin American Economic Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She succeeds Eitan Na’eh who was mobbed by media interest when he arrived in Ankara yesterday as the new ambassador to Turkey.
Bar-li previously Israel’s ambassador to Ghana, an embassy which she reopened following 38 years in which there was no official Israeli representation in that country. She has also served at Israel’s embassies in Turkey, Australia and Uzbekistan.
Speaking to Jewish News, Bar-li said: “Im excited and looking forward to begin my posting to London, and join Ambassador Regev and his team in bringing Israel and the UK closer together”
