Shani Bloch, the eldest member of Israel’s Olympic delegation finished Sunday’s women’s road race in 48th position.

The 37-year-old, who was the Israeli road cyclist to participate in the Olympics since 1960, retired 12 years ago to start a family, and only returned to competition two years ago.

And while she was fulfilling a dream by taking part in the Games, the 136.9km race in 32 degree heat along the Fort Copacabana saw her finish in 48th place in a time of 4:02:59, 11:32 minutes behind the winner, the Netherlands’ Anna Van der Breggen.
