Seventh time lucky for London Lions youngsters
Rowley Lane side win prestigious Letchworth Garden City tournament to go with its Watford Friendly League title win
Maccabi London Lions U14s White won the six-a side Letchworth Garden City Tournament on Sunday – the first time they’ve won the trophy at the seventh attempt.
Winners of the Watford Friendly League Red Division, Joe Bregman’s superb solo effort sealed them the win.
Manager Nigel Burns and assistant Joel Phillips, who were in charge when they first entered it eight years ago, said: “We’re rightly proud of the group who stuck to the task in very warm conditions and played as a team, playing some excellent football.”

Royal Mail issued a stamp honouring Holocaust hero Sir Nicholas Winton after a Jewish News campaign attracted more than 100,000 backers. Jewish Newsalso produces special editions of the paper highlighting pressing issues including mental health and Holocaust remembrance.
