A member of Nottingham Liberal Synagogue (NLS), has been elected as Fellow of the British Academy.

Professor Mike Billig has been recognised as a world-leading scholar and researcher in humanities and social science. He has written a number of acclaimed books and articles on topics including nationalism and the far-right, as well as the history of rock ’n’ roll.

Only one or two people are elected each year in each section, via a rigorous process.

Mike, a former professor of social sciences at Loughborough University, worked in contemporary social psychology. He has won praise for developing new forms of social psychology which are closely linked with other social sciences and especially with the study of language.

An active member of NLS, he recently gave a Zoom talk on Rock ’n’ Roll Jews.
