The Labour member who proposed a no-confidence vote in Luciana Berger has previously called the MP a “disruptive Zionist” and peddled outrageous conspiracy theories online.

The Jewish MP for Wavertree Liverpool has been critical of the Labour leader for his handling of antisemitism in Labour and his stance on Brexit.

Luciana Berger currently faces two motions proposing no-confidence votes against her, to be debated by her own constituency labour party on February 17.

Kenneth Campbell was among the two members to propose the second motion, which calls for a no-confidence vote following her criticisms of Jeremy Corbyn.

The motion reads: “The Tories are deeply divided but millions are still suffering from their austerity policies. We desperately need a socialist Labour government led by Jeremy Corbyn.

“Instead of fighting for a Labour government, our MP is continually using the media to criticise the man we all want to be Prime Minister.”

Campbell has a history of sharing problematic material on Facebook, including one post labelling Berger a “disruptive zionist”, in which he adds: “our cat is more of a socialist than her”.

The Jewish News understands the comments are being investigated by the Labour Party.

In a post from 2017, Campbell shared an article from AnonHQ, a conspiracy theory website, suggesting 9/11 was a “controlled explosion”.

In another post from 2016, Campbell shared an article about Jeremy Corbyn in the Telegraph, adding: “They must be crapping their nappies to be so afraid of him next thing they will be calling for [their] mates in Saudi to chop his head [off]”.

Another post from 2016 suggests Israel covertly supports ISIS. “Isis don’t fear Israel because Israel establishment through Turkey helps isis,” it reads. “pity independent journalists don’t look for and print the truth”.

Also in 2016, Campbell approvingly shared a post which describes Hillary Clinton as her husband’s “dutiful wife” and a “mare” who “loves everything Israel, and sadly is warmonger just like her old man”.

A Labour Party source said: “Antisemitism is not mentioned in the motion and the motion has no formal standing.

“However, Jeremy Corbyn has made clear that no one should be criticised for speaking out against antisemitism.”
