North Cheshire Jewish Primary School children held afternoon of storytelling at Didsbury care village

Children from North Cheshire Jewish Primary School enjoyed an afternoon of storytelling with elderly Jewish care home residents in south Manchester last week.

The inter-generational ‘Tea and Tales’ session, which included songs and dance, was held at Didsbury care village Belong Morris Feinmann and saw residents and their grandchildren share stories together in celebration of Rosh Hashanah.

Young guests read and listened to an array of different stories celebrating Jewish culture and values, all over a slice of traditional honey cake. Some residents even translated the Yiddish words in the literature for the younger generation.

Activities coordinator Angela Luckett said the event was “a wonderful way to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the culture of our Jewish residents… The intergenerational activity was thoroughly enjoyed by all those involved”.
