JLGB: Leading the way for youth
There's plenty to keep the children entertained, thanks to JLGB's Kids &Youth Zone at The Big Family Show and Expo!
Imagine a day of laser tag, digital film-making, glitter face painting and puppet shows!
Well, all that and more is on offer, as Jewish News presents The Big Family Show & Expo on 17 March.
Keeping young people entertained is what JLGB does best, which is why it is sponsoring the Kid & Youth Zone at the show.
Thousands of Jewish young people across the country are already involved in JLGB activities and the organisation will be showcasing even more fantastic opportunities for your children – and it’s all free.
There will be laser tag, live quiz shows, team building, glitter face painting, fancy dress, and an interactive photo booth.
JLGB is also excited to have a special Purim “puppet spiel” workshop, which will allow children to work with master puppeteers and, with a dose of imagination, retell the story of Purim.
For older teens, JLGB is offering an iPad-powered digital animation experience, which they can share live with their friends on social media.
JLGB is renowned for its adventure activities, with thousands of young people taking part each year in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and it is excited to live up to expectations by bringing a laser tag arena and other high-octane games, including driving arcades, dance mats and basketball shootouts. Now that’s what you call a Kids & Youth Zone.
This sort of thing happens each and every week at the local JLGB group in your community, where the focus is on the individual and aims to recognise and enhance every young person’s potential, building their character to develop their leadership, communication, organisation, initiative, resilience, confi dence and creativity.
JLGB has created a unique blend of activities that support not only your child’s future, but are also linked to government priorities for youth and social development.
Playing an active part in the local community and wider society is a key value for JLGB, and there is no better time than Purim to help others and support those in need.
JLGB will be running social action projects on the day for all the family to take part in, including packing and decorating mishloach manot (food parcels) with US Chesed, and designing Purim cards.
For those already involved or who would like to sign up to the Yoni Jesner Award by taking part in volunteering opportunities, they will be able to record their hours online on the day on evolve, JLGB’s youth volunteering and skills initiative, which brings together all national achievement awards and qualifications available to Jewish young people across the UK.
The evolve online platform will help to support your child’s volunteering, develop their sense of community and identity, to learn new transferable skills and gain the recognition they deserve.
JLGB’s fantastic and groundbreaking government-backed National Citizen Service (NCS) programme is the ideal way for any student in Years 11 and 12 to spend their summer.
For just £50 (including all accommodation, food and travel) this three-week life transformational experience has become a rite-ofpassage across the UK.
JLGB offers the only kosher and faith friendly cersion of NCS for the community.
Be sure to also visit the JLGB stand in the charity zone to take advantage of one-off discounts for its summer camps, providing an amazing opportunity for children to develop while forging friendships with hundreds of others from across the UK and around the world.
