Israeli champions suffer crushing 5-0 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in first leg of second qualifying round tie
Hapoel Be’erSheva are all but out of this season’s Champions League after they suffered a first leg 5-0 thrashing against Dinamo Zagreb.
Needing nothing short of a miracle to overturn the heavy deficit in next week’s home second leg, the Israeli champions were completely outclassed at the Stadion Maksimi
Arijan Ademi scored a brace in the first-leg rout in Zagreb, with Izet Hajrovic, Mislav Orsic and Armin Hodzic also getting on the score sheet, to leave the second leg a seemingly mere formality for the Croats.
European interest continues on Thursday when two Israeli sides are in Europa League qualification action. Hapoel Haifa host Icelandic side Hafnarfjordur in its first leg, while Maccabi Tel Aviv entertain Serbians Radnicki Nis.
