4,900 Chabad rabbis gather in New York for annual conference
Jewish emissaries from Rwanda, Slovakia, Turkey and around the world descend on Brooklyn for five-day event which culminated in gala dinner
Almost 5,000 Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis descended on New York from all over the world last week for the organisation’s annual conference in Brooklyn.
The five-day event, which culminated in a gala banquet, featured 4,900 rabbis from countries such as Rwanda, Slovakia and Turkey, and a keynote speech from US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
The conference was aimed at “strengthening Jewish awareness and practice around the world and on the final day rabbis visited the Ohel (graveside) in Queens, New York, of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneersohn, the most recent rabbi of the Lubavitcher Chasidic dynasty.

Rabbis waited in line saying Tehillim (Psalms), learning the Rebbe’s teachings and reflecting on their work. Friedman said it was “an oasis of spirituality… I have never left the Ohel feeling anything but optimism, renewal and joy”.
