Adam Lustigman says his U18 boys futsal side will be challenging for medals at this summer’s European Maccabi Games.
The squad which will be representing Team Maccabi GB in Berlin boasts some of the best young talent in Jewish footbal and futsal, as well as including a couple of players with international tournament experience – both Danny Stapleton and Josh Tray having featured for Team MGB U16 Boys Futsal at the 2013 Maccabiah Games where the side won silver.
Speaking about his expectations for Berlin, Lustigman said: “Having taken over the squad in December the boys have worked extremely hard during a tough training and match schedule so far. We have some talented players and a strong variety of characters, both on and off the pitch – there’s never a dull moment! But when it comes down to business their efforts and focus have been outstanding.
“Although having attended a JCC Maccabi Games in the past, most of them are participating in a European Maccabi Games for the first time and looking forward to experiencing both the playing and cultural aspects of Berlin. Having managed the Masters for the past two Games I’m relying on a bit of blind faith in what to expect from our opponents but the squad will be prepared mentally, physically and tactically when we board the plane and expect to be in the mix for medals.”
