Two former JFS students who run a children’s clothing company were reacting to unprecedented demand this week, after Prince George wore one of their robes to meet.

Daniel Price and Jonny Sitton, both 28, have sold out of the £27 Prince’s personalised Gingham Robe, but are letting customers pre-order from the next batch through their My First Years website.

The pair, who started the company six years ago after leaving university, said they used “a bit of plush, a dash of determination and an ounce of ingenuity” to create a business offering personalised baby gifts.

After Friday’s meeting between the world’s most powerful politician and the world’s most adorable royal, they said the sight of the young prince wearing their clothing was “extremely rewarding,” adding: “It’s a dream come true.”

Prince George, born in 2013, was allowed to stay up 15 minutes past his bedtime in order to meet the president and the first lady at Kensington Palace, Obama’s last official visit to the UK before he steps down at the end of the year.
