A new trailer for an Amy Winehouse movie shows footage of the star predicting she “wasn’t going to be very famous” and saying “she’d never handle it (fame)”.
The trailer was launched on the official website (AmyFilm.co.uk) and is the first trailer to be released for the title. In it Winehouse can be seen singing and also talking to the camera.
She says: “Singing was always important to me but I never thought ‘Oh, I’ll end up singing, I’ll be a singer’.”
The Jewish star goes on to say: “I wouldn’t write anything unless it was directly personal to me, just because I wouldn’t be able to tell the story right. I’m not a girl trying to be a star or trying to be anything other than a musician.”
When a voice behind the camera asks her “How big do you think you’re going to be?” she replies: “I don’t. I don’t think I’m going to be at all famous. I don’t think I could handle it, I would probably go mad…”
The movie is described as telling her story “in her own words” and will feature unseen archive footage and previously unheard songs of hers.
Winehouse died tragically at the age of 27 in July 2011 from alcohol poisoning.
* Amy is due for release in the UK in July 3 2015.
