A man from Bushey who has not been to Israel in more than 30 years spoke of being “overjoyed” this week after finding out he was on his way back after winning a Jewish News competition.

Michael Schogger, 55, who last visited in his early 20s, will fly to the Holy Land courtesy of our partners – travel currency exchange company WeSwap and Monarch Airlines.

Schogger, who fought off competition from thousands of entrants, said: “It’s the only prize I’ve ever won.” He will fly out with his wife and two sons and plans to spend Shabbat at the Kotel before “sightseeing and relaxing in Tel Aviv”.

The prize was provided by WeSwap, which swaps travellers’ currency directly with other travellers, meaning “everyone gets the fairest rate”. A spokesman said: “Congratulations, Michael! Enjoy Israel and don’t worry about travel money – we’ve got you covered!”
