A man has been arrested in Paris after trying to burn the Israeli flag outside the kosher shop where four Jews were killed by a jihadist last month.
The 38-year old is apparently known to police, and has a record of offences including “wilful destruction.”
He was stopped in the act of burning the flag, a month after the January terror attack in which Islamist gunman Amedy Coulibaly held a dozen hostages before being killed by police.
It came as Israeli President Reuven Rivlin met the families of the four victims of the Hyper Cacher attack. Among those gunned down were students, a teacher and a retired businessman.
“There is no comfort that can ease your terrible pain,” Rivlin said, before referring to the four men’s burial in Israel. “Together with you, the people of Israel buried our brothers. Jews around the world today, are part of the State of Israel. All of us, wherever we are, are part of the same family.”
