The Israeli consulate in New York City has reopened – having been shut after it was sent a package containing suspicious white powder and a letter, containing an ‘explicit death threat’ to Benjamin Netanyahu.
The building was evacuated on Friday due to a threatening package being sent to the consulate, which according to the Jerusalem Post, contained an envelope with white powder and a letter, written in English, which addressed directly to Netanyahu, contained an “explicit death threat”.
The building was put on lockdown, no one allowed to enter or leave the premises. New York State Department Police were called to the scene, with the contents of the package investigated in the consulate’s screening room.
Netanyahu landed in New York hours after the threat was made, where he will speak at the United Nations General Assembly’s 72nd session on Tuesday and meet with President Donald Trump.
