Property tycoon Nick Leslau and his wife Maxine hosted a prestigious gala dinner, which raised half a million pounds for the Holocaust Survivors’ Centre in Hendon to mark 70 years since the camps were liberated.

Up to 350 guests were entertained in the Ballroom at the Grosvenor House Hotel, as British broadcaster Tania Bryer hosted an evening that came about after Leslau heard a talk by 86-year-old Auschwitz survivor Rene Salt.

“Tonight is a celebration; of life, of survival and of mankind’s indomitable spirit,” he said.

“The Holocaust Survivors’ Centre, just up the road in north London, is small but its significance is way greater than its size.”
