A record 160-strong Jewish LGBT group took part in London Pride last weekend.

Members and friends of Keshet UK were joined by faith groups such as Imaan, which supports LGBT Muslims, Quest, the group for gay and lesbian Catholics, and Christians at Pride.

Surat-Shaan Knan, who works with the UK Liberal Jewish movement on faith-related LGBTQ+ initiatives, described the celebration as “a positive end to a tough few weeks”, where in spite of the attacks, and mounting racial tensions in the wake of Brexit, he felt “safe”.

Knan added: “It was powerful to see that this year the diverse LGBT+ groups from faith, trade unions to armed forces marched together united in their goal to make the world a better place.”

The celebration came just weeks after a tragic mass shooting at a LGBTQ+ nightclub in Florida.
