Israeli interest at this year’s US Open is over after Jonathan Erlich was knocked out of the men’s doubles competition on  Thursday night.

Having reached the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at Wimbledon in June, the Israeli, this time teaming up with New Zealander Artem Sitak couldn’t get past the first round as they were beaten 7-6, 3-6, 6-7 by Italians Marco Cecchinato and Andreas Seppi.

Erlich’s exit comes three days after Dudi Sela was beaten in the first round of the men’s singles competition.
